October is here, and we have a fun-filled month ahead at A New Day Child Development Center! We’re looking forward to celebrating the season with fall activities, special classroom experiences, Halloween Spirit Week, our Pumpkin Decorating Party, and plenty of opportunities for our children to learn, create, and make wonderful memories together.

As we move into this busy month, please take a few moments to review our newsletter for important dates, school reminders, upcoming events, extracurricular activities, and October birthdays.

A NEW DAY CDC HOURS OF OPERATION

A New Day CDC is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Extended care is till 5:30 pm. Please respect these hours and DO NOT come early or late unless necessary, and then make sure you call if you must make a change. Please understand that late charges will be applied as necessary.

Tuesday, October 20th
Fall pictures will be taken for children in the following classrooms: 12–18 Months 18–24 Months and our *3-Year-Olds!

Wednesday, October 21st
Fall pictures will be taken for children in the following classrooms: *2-Year-Olds and Pre-K (4–5-Year-Olds)

Please mark your child’s scheduled Picture Day on your calendar and have them dressed and picture-ready when they arrive at school.

ENRICHMENT CLASSES

At A New Day Child Development Center, we believe learning extends beyond the classroom! Our weekly enrichment class activities give children opportunities to explore their interests, build confidence, stay active, and discover new talents while having fun with their friends.

Mondays: Bookmobile
The Lake Travis Bookmobile visits every other Monday, giving children the opportunity to explore books and encourage a lifelong love of reading.

Tuesdays: Art Classes
Available for children ages 3 and up, our art classes encourage creativity, imagination, and self-expression through fun, hands-on projects.

Wednesdays: Sports Class ages 20 months & up
Children can enjoy an active class focused on movement, coordination, teamwork, and age-appropriate sports skills. Optional enrollment.

Thursdays: Gymnastics Class for 2 yrs. & up
A fun way for children to develop balance, flexibility, coordination, and confidence through age-appropriate gymnastics activities. Optional enrollment.

Fridays — Piano Lessons for 3 yrs. & up
Children are introduced to the joy of music while developing rhythm, listening skills, and beginning piano skills. Optional enrollment.

We love being able to offer these special experiences as part of the week at A New Day!

Regular and on-time attendance is an important part of your child’s success at A New Day Child Development Center. Consistent attendance helps children develop a predictable routine and allows them to fully participate in classroom instruction, school-readiness activities, and other learning experiences throughout the day.

If Your Child Will Be Absent
If your child will be absent due to illness or for any other reason, please send us a courtesy message through the Brightwheel app no later than 8:00 a.m. This helps our teachers and administration plan appropriately for the day.

Pre-K 4–5 Year-Old Classroom
Children enrolled in our Pre-K 4–5 Year-Old Classroom must arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. Our Pre-K instructional day begins promptly, and arriving on time gives children an opportunity to settle in, participate in morning routines, and be ready when instruction begins.

All Other Classrooms
We kindly ask that children in all other classrooms arrive before 8:45 a.m. Our educational and school-readiness activities begin at this time. Arriving on time allows children to receive the full benefit of their classroom experience and helps maintain a consistent daily routine.

Late arrivals can also be disruptive to children and teachers who are already engaged in lessons and classroom activities.

Thank you for making regular, on-time attendance a priority and for helping us provide a positive and productive start to each child’s day.

LATE PICKUP FEES

Children must be picked up by their scheduled pick-up time of either 3:00 pm or 5:30 pm. If a child has not been picked up by that time, the following late fees will apply:

A $5.00 late fee will be charged beginning at either 3:01 for Early Pick-Up or 5:31 p.m. for Extended Care.

This $25.00 fee covers the first five (5) minutes after your scheduled pick-up time (3:01-3:05) or (5:31–5:35).

Beginning at 3:06 or 5:36 p.m., there will be an additional $2.00 per minute charged for each minute until the child is picked up.

All late fees must be paid directly to the school is due at the time of pick-up.

Children will not be permitted to return to school until all outstanding late fees have been paid in full to the school.

We understand that emergencies and unforeseen delays can occur. If you anticipate being late, please notify the preschool as soon as possible so we can decide for a staff member to remain with your child.

SECURITY

Safety is a top priority at A New Day Child Development Center. Parents are responsible for the safety of your children while on school property. Please ensure your children are with you as you walk to and from your vehicle into the school and while on school grounds. Children must enter and leave the building under direct adult supervision. We ask that all students be carried or walked directly to your car during morning drop offs and again during afternoon pick-up.

PLEASE DO NOT LET CHILDREN RUN AROUND THE PARKING LOT OR ANYWHERE OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDING!

PRE K 4-5 YEAR OLD CLASSROOM SWEET-BERRY FARMS FIELD TRIP

Date: Friday, October 23rd

We’re excited for one of our favorite fall traditions! Our Pumpkin Party Field Trip to Sweet Berry Farm is coming up on Friday, October 23rd, and we’re looking forward to a fun fall adventure with our children and families.

Field Trip Details

Parent Attendance: Each child must have at least one parent or guardian attend in order to participate. Parents are responsible for providing transportation for their own child.

Cost: $7.00 per child and $7.00 for each parent attending.

Departure: We will leave the A New Day parking lot promptly at 9:30 a.m. for our 10:30 a.m. tour. Please arrive a few minutes early and be ready to leave on time, as the group will not be able to wait for late arrivals.

Carpooling: Families are welcome to carpool. If you would like to make carpool arrangements, please coordinate directly with other families in your child’s classroom.

Lunch: Please pack a sack lunch and drink for both you and your child. We will enjoy lunch together immediately following our farm activities, followed by a popsicle treat!

The tour will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Children will have an opportunity to enjoy a hayride, visit and feed the goats, make their way through the maze, and choose a pumpkin to paint and take home.

Returning to School After the Field Trip

Please let us know in advance whether your child will return to A New Day after the field trip or go home with you directly from Sweet Berry Farm.

This information is very important for our afternoon staffing. If no children will be returning to school, our teachers will be released for the afternoon. If any children are returning, appropriate staff will return to the center to provide care.

Please let us know as soon as possible whether you and your child will be attending so we can provide the farm with an accurate headcount and make the necessary staffing arrangements.

We always have such a wonderful time together, and we’re looking forward to making more special fall memories with our A New Day families!

Fall Picture Day Reminder:

Halloween Spirit Week Oct. 26th-Oct. 30th

Get ready for a week full of Halloween fun and school spirit! We invite all of our children and teachers to join in each day.

Monday — Pumpkin Patch Day
Have your child wear an orange, black, or your favorite fall colors. Pumpkin and fall-themed shirts are welcome too!
Tuesday — Silly Sock Day
Have your child show off their silliest, spookiest, or most colorful socks! Mismatched socks are encouraged!
Wednesday — Wacky Witch & Wizard Day
Have your child wear a witch or wizard hat, Halloween headband, or show off your wackiest Halloween hair! No full costumes needed.
Thursday — Pumpkin Decorating Party
It’s time to get creative! Children will enjoy a special Pumpkin Decorating Party with their classmates and festive Halloween activities.
Friday — Halloween Pajama Party
Have your child come to school in their favorite Halloween, fall, or festive pajamas!
We’ll end Spirit Week with a cozy day featuring an age-appropriate Halloween movie, special snacks, and classroom fun.

No costumes needed this year, just lots of Halloween spirit!

VISION & HEARING SCREENING REMINDER

Parents, please remember that all children age 4 and older are required to have a current vision and hearing screening on file with A New Day Child Development Center.

If your child has recently turned 4 or we do not yet have a copy of their screening results, please submit the documentation to the front office as soon as possible so we can keep your child’s records complete and up to date.

If you are unsure whether we already have your child’s screening on file, please feel free to check with the front office.
